Monterey & California Coast Lodging at it's best!
Lodging at Asilomar is peaceful and rustic, with 313 rooms located in 30 buildings nestled along the shoreline forests and dunes. Accommodations here are truly dedicated to rest and reflection; therefore guest rooms are free of distractions such as telephones and televisions.
All lodging rooms have private baths, and many buildings feature common living rooms appointed with fireplaces and inviting overstuffed chairs.
Asilomar offers a range of accommodations for both leisure and group guest, including standard rooms, historic rooms, and suites. For groups, every effort is made to accommodate attendees just a short walk through forested dunes to the group's meeting room, and the dining hall is centrally located on the grounds.
Historic Rooms
Historic rooms are located in buildings that were designed by architect Julia Morgan and built between 1913 and 1928. Each hotel room features hardwood floors, rustic California furnishings and private baths, and their size and quantity of beds vary from one single bed to two double beds. All of the historic lodging buildings have a common living room, with a fireplace, for lounging and reading.
Standard Rooms
Some of the standard room types are located in buildings designed by architect John Carl Warnecke and built in a style complementary to that of Julia Morgan's. Standard rooms are more contemporary than the historic rooms and include a private bathroom and shower. Some also have a patio or balcony, and some feature a fireplace. Size and quantity of beds vary in rooms, but in most the common combinations are: two double beds; one double and one single bed; one queen and one single bed; or four single beds.

Asilomar's 107 acres of dunes, beach, and forest are dedicated to a natural ecological environment, and as such they are considered a bit rugged by some guests, particularly those who are elderly, infirmed, or physically disabled. The paved pathways have some slopes, steps, and uneven surfaces. There are some two-story buildings, and some guestrooms and meeting rooms have entry steps.
In addition, all of the buildings were constructed between 1913 and 1982, and as a result, the majority of the rooms are not accessible to travelers with disabilities. However, there are a limited number of disabled accessible features in some rooms including: bars in bathroom area, roll-in showers, buildings with elevators, and wide entry doors. TDD devices for the hearing impaired are available at the Front Desk upon request, trained guide and service dogs are allowed on the grounds, and there is disabled parking available. California State Parks does not discriminate against individuals with disabilities. Prior to arrival, visitors with special access needs should contact the Manager on Duty at (831) 372-8016.
