Energy Conservation
At Asilomar, we prioritize energy efficiency by using CFL fixtures across the property and upgrading to LED lighting. Additionally, occupancy sensors have been installed to minimize energy use.
Water Conservation
Water Conservation
To reduce waste, we provide large drinking water containers for conference attendees instead of single-use bottles. Guests are encouraged to use reusable bottles, and our filtered water fountains make refilling easy and convenient.
Recycling
Asilomar actively recycles and composts. Through a co-mingled recycling program, all recyclable items—including paper, cardboard, glass, and aluminum—can be placed in BLUE containers. We also recycle disposable gloves and implement other initiatives to move toward zero landfill waste.
Materials
We prioritize sustainable materials by using cloth napkins where possible and printing collateral on 100% FSC-certified recycled paper with vegetable-based inks. Additionally, we do not accept Styrofoam containers or packaging, adhering to strict eco-conscious protocols.
Sustainable Meals
Our menus highlight fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers and producers. We also participate in the Monterey Bay Seafood Watch Program to ensure that all seafood served is sustainably harvested, aligning our dining options with environmental stewardship.
